Cocktail of the week - The Dark & Stormy

Gosling’s Black Seal of approval.

Bermuda, 1860. The Gosling family begins experimenting with rum. The result is a dark, distinct, full-bodied rum, which would become Gosling’s Black Seal. Elsewhere on the island, the British Royal Navy, satisfied with having conquered the known world, does the next logical thing: they start brewing ginger beer. It’s unclear why exactly, but one theory suggests it may have had something to do with ginger’s effectiveness in combating seasickness, another theory suggests that is was an effort to wean sailors off rum either way it is the result of a flavour sensation second to none.

Built Cocktail

  • 50ml Goslings Dark Rum
  • 10ml Lime Juice
  • Top with Ginger Beer
  • 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
