Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity seeks sponsors for Dementia-Friendly Garden at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2017

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity along with Jane Bingham and Penny Hearn of The Cheshire Garden are excited to be collaborating to create a dementia-friendly garden at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2017 and are seeking sponsors for this project. The RHS Flower Show Tatton Park is one of the North West’s highlights of the social and horticultural calendar. Set in many acres of magnificent parkland, the RHS Flower Show offers a fabulous day out for visitors of all ages, with around 80,000 people visiting each year.

To create awareness for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity’s new Dementia Appeal, the theme of the garden has been created to be dementia-friendly. Entitled the ‘Remember Me’ garden, the objective is to increase awareness amongst the general public about the effects of dementia on patients and their families.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, Jane Bingham and Penny Hearn hope to broaden the reach of the new Dementia Appeal and the awareness of the ‘Remember Me’ garden because of the wide and diverse reach and impact that dementia can have upon all families, from the elderly to their grandchildren. To optimise this opportunity and use funds to the full, sponsorship is being sought from local businesses, who may wish to support the project, and by doing so, can also benefit from raising their business’ profile in the local community and beyond.

The ‘Remember Me’ garden has already been supported by extremely generous sponsorship from headline sponsor 4YourHome, Part of the Qualtex Global Group and by County Homesearch UK, along with many other suppliers of materials, which will be used in the garden’s creation.

Caroline Hulme, Director/Company Secretary, Qualtex UK Ltd comments, “It is very important to 4YourHome that we support our local communities. We have identified this opportunity to be central to the Demential Appeal and to raise awareness of dementia care throughout the region.” Continuing on, “We are very proud to be the headline sponsor of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity dementia-friendly garden.”

Laura Riddle, Charity Manager, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity states, “We are exceedingly grateful to all our sponsors for their support of this amazing opportunity, and for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity to raise awareness of dementia at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2017.” Laura continues, “We rely upon support from our local businesses and individuals so that we can help support Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in providing the level of healthcare our patients deserve. I would like to extend a special thanks to Caroline and her team at 4YourHome for their generous sponsorship of our ‘Remember Me’ garden.”

The garden’s concept focuses on evoking memories in order to enhance the dementia patient’s experience of their environment and reduce their agitation and distress. Jane Bingham and Penny Hearn, the designers of the garden, have designed a ‘home from home’ outdoor space, where people with dementia or a cognitive impairment can enjoy the freedom to be themselves. The concept aims to educate and inform the visitors about the journey that a dementia patient will take from their first, initial diagnosis through to potentially needing 24-hour care. By making public and private environments more dementia friendly, and therefore, inclusive, the spaces will help enable people with dementia enjoy outdoor areas to their fullest.

There are a range of sponsorship packages available to suit every budget. Each level of sponsorship includes different benefits and all sponsors will have a reference in the show booklet, which will be handed out to visitors to the garden. For more information about the sponsorship packages or to pledge your support please contact Laura Riddle, Charity Manager on 01270 273248 or email charity@mcht.nhs.uk
