Tatton Park named as one of the best in Britain
Tatton Park in Cheshire East is one of the very best in the UK – and that’s official.
The popular attraction is among a record-breaking 1,686 parks and green spaces that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
The award, now celebrating its 20th year, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
Over 800,000 visitors a year enjoy Tatton Park and benefit from the pleasant and enjoyable parkland that Tatton works hard to maintain for the whole community. This is Tatton’s twelfth award and Green Heritage site accreditation.
Councillor George Walton, Chairman of the Tatton Park Board commented
“Tatton Park is one of a number of places in Cheshire East that have met the national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK, showing once again the quality that Cheshire East offers. However, we are particularly proud that in addition to a Green Flag for Tatton we also have Green Heritage Accreditation that recognises our heritage value, how we share that with visitors and our continuing efforts to conserve, enhance and help people enjoy the heritage of the site.”
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Awards.
“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
